When’s Happy Hour – Betches Media

I got this book from a close friend of mine! learned a lot and I liked how practical and resourceful the insights were. One thing that stood out was feminism. While first-wave feminism was all about voting and legal rights, second-wave feminism was about achieving equality in employment, workplace rights, reproductive rights, and education, and advancing women socially through changes in dress, sexual freedom, and of course, the right to burn our bras.

  1. No man is good enough to govern any woman without her consent. – Susan B. Anthony
  2. Pure, endless indulgence brings neither success nor lasting happiness.
  3. When you try to change yourself to fit a job because either you think you’ll make a lot of money or you’ll just take whatever interview you can get, it never works. You won’t be passionate about it, and it winds up being a waste of your time.
  4. The best negotiation tactic is letting your work and your history speak for itself.
  5. Naturally, as a woman, you must always walk that fine line between being too much and not enough for people *cough cough.*
  6. You never need to feel rushed to speak. “Let me think about it and get back to you” goes a long way.
  7. Everyone feels better after crying, and it’s a natural human way to cope with stress and process feeling.
  8. Having something to cry about means having something to care about, and that’s definitely a place you want to be in your career.
  9. Take responsibility for your successes and failures and don’t blame other people.
  10. Feminism is the belief in and desire for equality between the sexes. So as long as you think men and women should be treated equally and given the same opportunities, you’re a feminist.
  11. Gaslighting is used by people who want to take away your agency and make you feel small.
You need to live for yourself. At the end of the day, you're the only one who has to actually live it.
*I take no credit for any of these points.
